Dr Jarrad Van Zuydam

Jarrad studied medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand. He completed his diploma in anaesthesia in 2009 and spent some time practising anaesthesia in the public and private health sectors.

His passion for sport led him to enroll for a Master of Science Degree in sports medicine at the University of Pretoria where he graduated with distinction. Since then he has worked with various sports teams at university and provincial level. Being a cyclist himself, Jarrad has a special interest in cycling medicine and endurance sport medicine in general. He is a CSA level 1 cycling coach and is a team doctor for the Dimension Data pro cycling team (previously MTN Qhubeka) since December 2012. His work with the team has led him to the far corners of the world and also to Le Tour de France.

His other interests include exercise as a treatment modality for chronic disease and inspiratory muscle training.

Jarrad is a SASMA member, a U-Turn consultant and firmly believes that Exercise is Medicine.
